Why a Pro-Built Engine Beats a DIY Build
Building 500 horsepower yourself means sourcing a core, paying for machine work, matching components, and then hoping the assembly comes together correctly. Every step adds cost, time, and risk.
This engine removes all of that. The machine work is finished. The components already match. The clearances are set and documented. Consequently, you install an engine instead of managing a second project alongside your build.
In addition, a known output figure lets you plan your transmission, gearing, and rear end before the crate even arrives.
Block Platforms We Build On
| Platform | Material | Displacement | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|
| LQ4 / LQ9 | Iron | 6.0L | Best value with excellent durability |
| LS2 | Aluminum | 6.0L | Weight savings with good displacement |
| LS6 | Aluminum | 5.7L | Strong factory head and cam baseline |
| LS3 | Aluminum | 6.2L | Rectangular port heads, most airflow |
| LSX | Iron | Varies | Maximum strength margin |
| LS9 | Aluminum | 6.2L | Supercharged-spec block, forged crank |
Not sure which one fits your build? Call us and we recommend the right platform for your chassis and budget.
Platform Highlights
LQ4 and LQ9 Iron Block
The LQ family comes from GM trucks and vans as a Gen 3 iron block 6.0L. Iron holds bore geometry under heat and load exceptionally well. Because it also costs less than aftermarket alternatives, the LQ delivers strong value at this output level.
LS2 and LS6 Aluminum Blocks
The LS2 powered the 2005 through 2007 Corvette and the 2006 GTO. The LS6 came from the 2001 through 2004 Corvette Z06 with an aggressive factory cam and high-flow heads. Both give you aluminum weight savings with a proven performance pedigree.
LS3 Aluminum Block
The LS3 uses rectangular port heads that flow considerably more air than any cathedral port design. For a naturally aspirated 500 horsepower target, that airflow ceiling gives you genuine headroom rather than a struggle.
LSX Iron Block
GM Performance built the LSX specifically for high-horsepower applications. It is stronger than any production LS block by a wide margin. At 500 horsepower you will not come close to its limit, which means it simply never becomes a concern.
LS9 Aluminum Block
The LS9 block came from the supercharged ZR1 Corvette. GM engineered it for far more than 500 horsepower, and it uses a forged crankshaft and stronger internals from the factory. Because of that, an LS9-based build carries substantial headroom if you ever add boost later.

Always confirm the full component list in writing before ordering.
What You Need Ready Before Delivery
A tune. The camshaft and induction changes require a calibration built for the combination. A stock tune cannot manage it. Budget for professional dyno tuning.
Fuel delivery. The injectors flow well beyond factory sizing. Your pump, lines, and regulator have to keep up, or the engine runs lean at wide-open throttle.
Exhaust. At 500 horsepower, restrictive exhaust throws away power you already paid for. Note that LS3 and LS9 builds need rectangular port headers specifically.
Cooling. Size your radiator for the output rather than for a stock engine. A marginal system will not hold temperature under sustained hard driving.

Common Questions
Which block should I choose?
The LQ iron block gives the best value. The LS3 flows the most air. The LSX brings the most strength. The LS9 gives you the most headroom if boost is in your future. Call us with your goals and we recommend the fit.
Can I add boost later?
The LS9 and LSX platforms handle boost best because of their block strength and internal specification. Tell us your long-term plan and we build accordingly.
Can I drive it on the street?
Yes, with a matched tune, adequate fuel delivery, and free-flowing exhaust. It is not a mild engine, but it is not race-only either.
Do I need a tune?
Yes. A stock calibration cannot manage this camshaft correctly. Plan for professional tuning as part of your total build cost.
How does it ship?
On a certified freight pallet with all ports plugged and the assembly secured. We ship to all 50 states. Send your ZIP code and we confirm the cost.
What about warranty?
Terms vary by build and intended use. Call us to confirm coverage before purchasing. Also review our refund policy.
